FACINGS July Update: Dark Pinup on WAX Arena, Skullz, & Upcoming Releases!
Welcome to the first of many FACINGS updates covering a whole gamut of technical and creative endeavors from the team, as well as the many artists and developers we are pleased to be collaborating with in bringing you the future of NFTs! These updates will give you insight into every aspect of what FACINGS is up to as a publisher, while also keeping you in the loop of any exciting developments on the horizon. Ongoing Collections
Dark Pinup
Dark Pinup continues its alluring evolution with the recent Ember Pack distribution to collectors who took part in the Ember Burn event. Hundreds of collectors received their packs and the trading channels have been very busy with passionate fans looking to complete their set. That drop took place on July 9th and anyone who earned a pack has them in their inventory.
More than 1,900 Ember Packs have been opened so far, revealing the ash piles they leave behind — the Ember Pack version of a wrapper. Each Ember pack came with a special Confidence card as well, as a token of FACINGS’ appreciation. Team also airdropped a special candlestick to everyone who was included on the leaderboard; a favorite NFT among the FACINGS team members.
Dark Pinup set rewards will be the next event taking place in the Dark Pinup universe. The first rewards will be given to those collectors who have completed the entire Base set of 44 Dark Pinup cards. Holders of multiple complete sets will receive multiple rewards. This reward is something special and the ball will drop shortly with a date you can pin on your calendar. The first set of rewards will roll out in August, with plenty of warning before the cut-off date.
The team has not forgotten about the Special Memento books either. The period to claim and receive your signed Dark Pinup book is approaching, but will follow the set reward distributions in August.
Hot off the press
Dark Pinup has been added to WaxArena, which describes itself as “a revolutionary, web-based NFT arena battle game.” Log in to the WaxArena site, sync your wallet, and you will automatically be rewarded with your Power Points — no staking necessary.
This is now the second social staking site that Dark Pinup has been added to, alongside collect.social. We expect to see more collaborations in the future as the FACINGS brand gains recognition and the team continues to add utility to the campaigns.
Dark Pinup saw one of its highest secondary market sales days on record after the WaxArena announcement, pulling in over $5,500 and over 1,000 sales. The community has been quick to grab any remaining deals on the market, and who can blame them with set rewards on the horizon! The amount of unopened packs continues to dwindle, but luckily, this will not be the final Dark Pinup release, or feature, with Act Two coming in November.
Skullz
Skullz, the first interactive virtual musical act, released their debut WAX NFT collection on July 8th. Skullz is produced by Soundr, who describe themselves as “The world’s first blockchain music label exclusively signing virtual interactive artists.” This release is the first sneak peek at what the girls of Skullz have been working on and includes special Get Loud audio NFTs, as well as a very special Ticket that will grant you access to an upcoming metaverse event. Collect the set and get a glimpse of the lifestyle the band has been living on The Blackout Tour — before they become famous. Over 1,000 Single Passes and 750 VIP passes have been sold to collectors so far, with plenty more waiting at the ticket booth! Anyone who signed up on the site before the launch can expect the Hyde Timelapse to drop into their wallets in the next few days, completing the timelapse series for this release.
Updates to the Skullz site to include more background information on the band is coming shortly. In the meantime, Soundr has given their website a refresh which includes a fresh new roadmap. Expect more utility, more drops, and more music from the Soundr team as the Blackout Tour rolls on. Also, be on the lookout for additional promotional activities coming soon on Twitter.
If you are wondering where the FACINGS pack rips page is for Skullz, it was removed temporarily due to a bug. Luckily, we have a fix in the works that will allow you to view pack rips properly. But for now, If you’re looking to view your previous pack rips you can visit darkpinup.com, log-in, and navigate to the FACINGS Pack Rips page, where you can see every pack rip from any FACINGS product you have interacted with.
Upcoming Releases
NFTrippy
What is NFTrippy you ask? — NFTrippy is a..trippy educational series coming to WAX that celebrates the wonder of the mushroom! There are thousands of varieties of fungi on the planet and each has a unique profile and behaviour. NFTrippy Volume One explores the magical Psilocybin variant of shrooms through a mystical collection of NFTs that will entertain you and perhaps teach you something new about the lore of mushroom foraging. NFTrippy will come with a fun crafting mechanism where chemical components you collect in packs will need to be combined to reveal your fungi across one of three variants — Baseline, Lift Off, and Heroic!
Further experimenting with your shrooms with unlock the rarest and yet unseen Elders of the forest. Special cards might even unlock physical tools to aid your education and experimentation. Help yourself, and Mushy the mushroom, collect all the varieties to reach enlightenment, next month 🍄.

New Features & Improvements
The past few months the FACINGS team has been focused on bringing an array of new features to the ever evolving catalogue of NFT releases FACINGS publishes.
Here are few highlights:
- Audio was added to both Ember packs and Skullz pack opening animations.
- A credit card option is in the works for future pack releases! Stay tuned for more details as we roll this out.
- We are also working on crafting as well as improvements to our leaderboard systems.
- We are preparing to introduce a new “pack mining system” where WAX holders can stake WAX to provide FACINGS with additional CPU to process pack openings. Staking participants will be able to effectively mine free packs with unused resources.
